Trail Notes

A good (but slightly more challenging) days ride that still offers up wonderful vistas and places to picnic for the romantics or young at hearts. A good combination ride with something for everyone, including those keen to sample some of the area’s famous Pinot Noir’s.

Beginning the ride in Arrowtown, make your way to Arrowtown Chinese Settlement. After that, the trail heads west along the banks of the Arrow River and passes iconic and photo-worthy Otago bridges.
Cross busy State Highway 6 using Barfoot Tunnel. Make your way over the historic Kawarau Suspension Bridge and follow the signs to the Gibbston River Trail. Riding east, you can choose to explore the Gibbston River Trail as well as exploring the odd Pinot Noir tasting. When you get to the Gibbston Back Road you’ve reached the end point of the trail and retrace your journey seeing the sights from a slightly different perspective.
