Moke Lake Loop Track

A good intermediate trail with lovely lake views.

LOCALS SAY

The Moke Lake Loop Track is close enough to Queenstown to be convenient, but far enough away to still make you feel like you’re in the wilderness. It’s a reasonably short intermediate track with gentle rises and falls that loops you around the lake through tussock and grasslands.

Trail Notes

This shared use trail guides you along the water’s edge of the photogenic Moke Lake with the views framed by dramatic mountain backdrops. This area also has wonderful picnic spots (with onsite facilities) and in the warmer months, is a decent place to swim. It’s mixed terrain (even some boardwalk protecting a small wetland) and the space is shared and multi-directional so please pay attention. This is a good one for the family.

To reach this track, you’ll need to take Glenorchy Queenstown Road and then follow the signs that read ‘Moke Lake Road’ which are around 8km down the road heading for Glenorchy. The road is gravel so please drive with care.

But wait, there's more...
