Trail Notes

A slightly more challenging two-way trail (stay alert for walkers), this trail offers wonderful mountain scenery, natural schist rockeries, waterfalls and historic ruins along the way. There are some grade 4 sections that we recommend less confident riders walk their bikes over. You’ll also get your feet wet in the Arrow River.

The Coronet Loop trail begins and ends in Arrowtown. Start by heading up Bush Creek. The trail continues along the Coronet Face Water Race. The connector trail climbs up and over into Skippers Canyon on to Tradesman’s and Pack, Track and Sack trails (NOTE: GRADE 4). To bypass the technically challenging area, take the Skippers Pack Track, or follow the Skippers Road before joining the climb to the Greengate Saddle.
At Balderson’s Hut, a right-hand turn enters the Loop proper and climbs to Greengate’s saddle. Over Picnic Rock descend into Deep Creek. Cross Parkers Creek before heading down to Eight Mile Creek (aka Coronet Creek), joining onto Macetown Rd. **This is the section that beginner riders should walk.
Continue on the Macetown 4WD road along the Arrow River returning back to your starting point of Butler’s Green in Arrowtown.

But wait, there's more...
