Trail Notes

This half day trek meanders through open meadows and woodlands and also weaves its way through some of Otago’s rich gold mining history. There are some technical sections and exposed areas so it’s recommended that you keep a close watch on less confident riders. There are also shared sections on this trail so you’ll need to watch for walkers and for horses. But pack a picnic – there are some majestic places to stop for refreshment on the way and you can make a day of it by retracing your steps when you reach the end.

Starting at the Littles Road end, to kick it off, you’ll make your way up Littles Road before arriving at a flat section above the Lower Shotover Gorge.
Continue downstream and follow the trail as it weaves opposite the Tucker Beach Recreation Reserve.
You’ll cycle around the short bluff towards the Lower Shotover Conservation Area. The trail then meets the Queenstown Trail. Head for the Old Lower Shotover Bridge and once there, you can retrace your steps if you wish.

But wait, there's more...
