Trail Notes

Being lesser known, you can expect some solitude on this track. Extra seclusion means more wildlife so keep your eyes peeled for viewings of the Banded Dotterel and Black-fronted Tern. The track undulates back and forth with a bit of an uphill climb (96m elevation) and works its way towards the reserve, which is home to a number of threatened species so dogs *must* remain on a leash at all times. The trail offers wilderness, marvellous scenery and the opportunity to catch a glimpse of some of New Zealand’s native wildlife.

This trail ambles around Ferry hill, hugging the bank of the Shotover river running mostly parallel to Tucker beach Road. You can access the track from both ends of Tucker Beach Road with accessible parking near the Shotover Bridge near the Fern Hill drive turnoff.
